CIUT89.5FM Needs You!

A message from Station Manager Ken Stowar:

“On Sunday, April 6th CIUT had to shut down its 27 year old transmitter.  This was due to serious and various malfunctions of key components.  Over the course of 13 hours our station engineer attempted to restore functionality.  Unfortunately, all efforts were unsuccessful.  CIUT immediately issued an urgent call out requesting monetary donations to help finance the acquisition of a new transmitter system for the radio station.  Listeners, supporters, and strangers alike have responded by the hundreds during our ‘The Sound of Your City’ membership drive.  Collectively, donors to date have provided us with an excellent start to helping us get closer to the total amount necessary to cover the acquisition of a transmitter. So, a big huge thank you is in order to each and every person that helped us get to where we sit today.

As much as excellent progress has been made in the bid to make the goal for funding of the new transmitter system, CIUT still needs those that have not yet made a donation to do so.  This will provide the additional funds still needed.  Our telephone donation lines are open Monday through Friday, from 9 am – 5 pm.  Please call 416-946-7800 or 1-888-204-8976. You may donate online at www.ciut.fm 24 hours a day, too.

As stated in earlier communications, the new transmitter will provide superb and quality sound and reception, unlike anything CIUT has been able to deliver, ever.  You’re going to love it.

We are working together to bring The Sound of Your City to everyone.

Ken Stowar / Station Manager / CIUT-FM”

UPPER CANADA CHORUS DOES JAPANESE TAIKO

A message from Nagata Shachu:    “Over the last year, Nagata Shachu has been working with the Upper Canada Chorus teaching about 70 choristers Japanese drumming. They had a concert at the St. George’s United Church this past Saturday and the senior choristers (18 participants) performed a piece with Nagata Shachu which we had been teaching them. Nagata Shachu then performed another 20 minute set on its own as the special guest artists. It was a wonderful experience both for Nagata Shachu and the UCC.”
