Sharlene Wallace is both a Classical harpist and one of Canada’s most prolific and influential Celtic harp players. Winner of two international lever (Celtic) harp competitions, she has created five CDs which include many of her original compositions and those of Alfredo Rolando Ortiz. Sharlene tours internationally giving concerts, workshops, masterclasses, adjudications and performing in numerous festivals and concert series across North America and in Europe. As well as performing solo concerts, Sharlene plays with musicians such as George Koller (bass), Anne Lindsay (fiddle), and Ben Grossman (hurdy gurdy, percussion). Sharlene is on the faculty of York University teaching Classical and folk harps. Her own Classical performance degree is from the University of Toronto where she studied with the eminent harpist Judy Loman. She has also studied Celtic harp with Kim Robertson and South American harp with Alfredo Rolando Ortiz. Sharlene is principal harpist with Kingston, Guelph and Oakville Symphonies and has been both pedal and Celtic harp soloist with orchestras including Kingston, Quinty, Stratford, London, Georgian Bay, Timmins and International Symphonies.
