Composer and multi-instrumentalist Daniel Janke first became known in the Canadian world music scene with his CD releases Big Dance [1989, featuring Holly Cole] and In A Room [1995]. He has since recorded with numerous artists including Bruce Cockburn, [Breakfast In New Orleans, 1999], Montuno Police, George Koller, Fawn Fritzen and others.  His most recent CD release is Cinco Puntos Cardinales [Centrediscs].

 

Commissions include Weather Coming for Standing Wave Ensemble; String Quartet No. 1 for the Penderecki String Quartet; Miniatures for Chamber Orchestra for Nouvel Ensemble Moderne du Québec. Film scores include Subconscious Password [NFB, dir. Chris Landreth 2013]; Coeur En Or [NFB, dir. Julie Plourde, 2012]; Touch, and The Susan Smith Tapes [dir. Jeremy Podeswa, 2001]; and Northern Town [CBC, 2006].

 

Daniel is currently in production on a CD for the Centrediscs label with violinist Mark Fewer. He is also composer/director of the live stage/film production The Grubstake Remix which is scheduled for release in early 2016 [Northern Town Films].
